Through its Science and Technology Archive (ACT), the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is organizing the "Archives of Knowledge: Science, History and Memory". The 2nd session will take place on April 16, starting at 2:30 p.m., at the FCT premises (Av. D. Carlos I, 126, Lisbon).

This cycle aims to disseminate the documentary collection of the FCT Science and Technology Archive, as well as others relevant to the history and memory of Science and Technology in Portugal, through the promotion of five short sessions, held in an informal and sharing environment.

Paula Diogo, member of the FCT's Board of Directors, and Paula Meireles, coordinator of the Science and Technology Archive, will open this session, which will have researcher Quintino Lopes (Institute of Contemporary History, New University of Lisbon, University of Évora/IN2PAST - University of Évora) as guest speaker.

See the detailed program of the event on the ACT website and register for free here.

The ACT is unique in the history of scientific activity in Portugal, with the task of preserving and managing the documentary memory of national scientific production, translated into thousands of support processes for grants, institutions and research projects. Open to the public since December 16, 2011, it has a significant collection of documents that includes, in addition to the FCT's own archive from 1997 onwards, the collection of the National Board for Scientific and Technological Research (JNICT), from 1967 to 1997, and other public and private bodies, essentially in the area of science policies and funding in Portugal.

Three more sessions of this cycle are scheduled for 2025, to be held on June 18, September 17 and November 19. All the information on the specific programs for each session will be made available on this page in due course.
