Registration is now open for the 4th Advanced Computing Meeting, which will take place on November 5 and 6, 2024, at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), in Covilhã.  

The event, organized by FCCN, the digital services of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), brings together researchers, technicians and decision-makers with the aim of promoting collaboration and the development of skills in the area of Advanced Computing.  

This meeting promises to be a crucial meeting point for all those interested in the evolution of Advanced Computing in Portugal and Europe, offering a unique opportunity to share knowledge, discuss innovative solutions and strengthen cooperation between academia, industry and research centers. 

Artificial Intelligence and the challenges of the digital transition will be highlighted 

This meeting is part of the activities of the National Network for Advanced Computing (RNCA) and aims to discuss current topics such as the infrastructures and resources available to Portuguese researchers, artificial intelligence and the challenges of the digital transition in academic and business areas. Participants will also learn about the network's latest updates, developments in the national and European High Performance Computing (HPC) ecosystem and enjoy this meeting point for all those interested in Advanced Computing. 

The 4th edition of this meeting will feature two workshops on the morning of the first day and thematic sessions that will highlight the impact of Advanced Computing in various areas of knowledge.

On November 5, at 2 p.m., the opening session will be attended by Professor Francisco Santos, vice-president of FCT, who will also present the new National Center for Advanced Computing

Other important moments include sessions on the role of supercomputers, such as Deucalion and MareNostrum 5, both supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) in scientific and technological innovation, as well as on synergies leveraged by initiatives such as EuroHPC or EuroCC, in terms of training specialized human resources and strengthening international partnerships.
