Arquivo.pt, the digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology(FCT), developed by FCCNpresents a new feature that allows access to content reproduced in Flash.
The new version of the service, called Isis, now guarantees the reproduction of animations and interactive content in Flash, which seemed to have disappeared. This discontinued technology was used in the early years of the Internet to produce animations, mobile and desktop applications, games and video players inserted into the web browser. However, it became obsolete and current browsers, such as Google or Edge, no longer support it, making it impossible to view this content.
The Ruffle system, an emulator of the Flash Player software , used in the new version of Arquivo.pt allows access to content produced by outdated tools.
Accessing Flash sites is now possible on Arquivo.pt, before and after using Ruffle. These platforms were created to be viewed on static, desktop computers, so they may present limitations on mobile devices.
All the information about the new Arquivo.pt feature is available on the service's website.
