The initiative will reward the most innovative work using the information preserved on Arquivo.pt. Entries are open until May 6 and anyone interested can and should apply.
The challenge consists of submitting anindividual or group project on any topic of your choice. The main requirement is that the source of information for the project is Arquivo.pt.
The application must include a text and a short video describing the work carried out. If it is a group work, the application must be submitted in the name of a single person responsible. Works that have not won awards in previous editions can apply again.
Professionals, students, researchers and all interested citizens can prepare their project and apply for the 8th edition of the Arquivo.pt Award. Teachers are also rewarded in this edition, with an honorable mention for those who encourage the use of Arquivo.pt as a learning tool in the classroom.
Three Prizes: €15,000
1st place in the 2025 edition of the Arquivo.pt Prize receives a prize of €10,000. Second place on the podium receives a prize of €3,000. And 3rd place is awarded €2,000.
As in recent editions, several honorable mentions have also been awarded. For the first time, the 50 Years of April 25 Commemorative Commission is honoring a work that uses Arquivo.pt to address the theme "April 25 and Democracy", with a prize of €5,000.
The remaining honorable mentions were awarded by the Aveiro Media Competence Center Consortium(AMCC), the DNS.pt Association (.PT) and the Público newspaper. The Arquivo.pt 2025 Award also has the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic.
Arquivo.pt Award over the years
Since its first edition in 2018, the Arquivo.pt Prize has seen 195 entries , 27 projects honored and more than €100,000 in prizes awarded.
In 2024, the winner was the project "Noticioso - Challenging Perceptions", a platform where users can compare media coverage of various topics using a game. It also makes it possible to explore trends over time using an analytical tool. See the winners of the last edition of the Prize here.
