The team responsible for managing Deucalion was present at the EuroHPC Summit 2025, which took place from March 18 to 20 in Krakow, Poland. The event featured two presentations focused on the advanced capabilities of the Portuguese supercomputer.
The first presentation highlighted the application of Large Scale Language Models (LLMs) for analysis and forecasting tasks, specifically using the models Deepseek e Llama3. These models use deep learning techniques to generate insights based on data, improving predictive capacity and informing decision-making in various areas.
The focus of the second presentation was the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation model, which applies physical principles to simulate fluid flow, temperature distribution and pressure within systems. This mechanism provides valuable information for optimizing engineering projects and solving complex fluid-related challenges.
The EuroHPC Summit is the annual meeting that brings together the main European players in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC). Deucalion 's participation in the event promotes the versatility of the Portuguese supercomputer and its fundamental role in promoting innovation in the European advanced computing ecosystem.
Inaugurated in September 2023, the Deucalion system is a petascale capable of executing more than 10 petaflops, or 10 million billion calculations per second, supplied by Fujitsu Technology Solutions. It is a unique EuroHPC supercomputer, combining ARM A64FX processors with Bull Sequana technology, provided by Eviden, the advanced computing division of Atos.
