Arquivo.pt, the digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed through its unit FCCN, has been nominated in the category of safeguarding digital heritage

Every two years , the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) celebrates work focused on ensuring a sustainable future for digital assets.

Arquivo.pt among the finalists for the Digital Heritage Award 

The awards ceremony will take place in Ghent, Belgium, as part of the meeting program iPres 2024starting at 16:00 Lisbon time. Daniel Gomes, manager of Arquivo.pt, the infrastructure that preserves digital information published online, will be present at the event, representing the FCT. 

In the category in which Arquivo.pt is a finalist Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy (three other projects are also in the running. These focus on issues such as the preservation of journalistic work and cultural heritage in their respective countries, while Arquivo.pt is in the running for the award with the Arquivo.pt Catalog of Tools for Digital Preservation.

In October 2023, after 15 years of research and development, Arquivo.pt launched this Catalog of 13 innovative tools to support the preservation of online content at risk, from its acquisition to its dissemination (e.g. search and access, APIs, training, open datasets or exhibitions). 

FCT is honored to see one of its digital services selected for this final, with the winner of this category receiving , in addition to international recognition, a trophy, a certificate of participation and a cash prize of more than 1,000 euros.
