A PhD student in Computer Engineering at the University of the Algarve has been selected to take part in TNC24, which will be held in Rennes, France, from June 10 to 14. The opportunity comes as part of the Lightning Talks challenge.
Sharing a story or a project in a 5-minute presentation at the largest annual networking conference was the challenge launched by GÉANT and, in Portugal, by FCCN, the digital services of the Foundation for Science and Technology. This challenge was open to all higher education students as part of the Lightning Talks project. Ricardo Veiga decided to take part and was chosen by the jury to share his work on TNC24.
June 12th at TNC24
During the event, on June 12 at 4:05 p.m., Ricardo Veiga will present his research work dedicated to creating a way of monitoring the ocean floor using automation and cloud computing technologies . cloud.
Using this solution, it becomes possible to implement a dynamic system that recognizes the specificities of the various underwater regions. "This is a significant step towards more sustainable ocean management," says the student in his application.
Ricardo Veiga's application came about at the suggestion of his mentor. The student decided to accept the proposal because he saw it as "an opportunity to test his skills in a new context" and to challenge himself to "get out of his comfort zone".
Presentation follows the training stages
Participation in the challenge involves a training phase, during which students from all over the world receive specialized support in preparing a presentation on their research work.
For Ricardo Veiga, this opportunity has made "the experience extremely enriching": "I've learned how to condense and convey complex ideas effectively to a diverse audience, not limited to experts in my field."For the University of Algarve student, this participation will be "a precious opportunity to be exposed to new ideas and concepts", as well as to share his own work and innovations. "I'm particularly excited about the networking opportunities that the event provides," explains Ricardo Veiga, before concluding: "These interactions are key to expanding my professional perspective and opening doors to future collaborations and opportunities."
