FCT, through its digital services unit, FCCN, has developed the training "CSIRT in a BoxInitial Training for Incident Response Teams", available on the NAU platform. Registration is open until May 8, 2025.

Cybersecurity is an essential issue in an increasingly digital society. In order to effectively combat the threats arising from this process, the need to create Computer Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) has become evident.

The FCT's "CSIRT in a Box: Initial Training for Incident Response Teams" course, developed by FCCN, aims to influence the creation of new CSIRT teams. From the training of human capital to the provision of open source tools, at the end of the course the trainee acquires a global vision of the process of creating this type of team, as well as the main activities that these professionals carry out on a daily basis.

Carlos Friaças, manager of FCT's cybersecurity service, points out that "with the imminent transposition of the NIS2 directive into Portuguese law, computer security incident response is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. In this context, FCT's cybersecurity team, one of the oldest incident response teams in Portugal, considered it essential to develop this online course, accessible to anyone with an interest in this subject."

The course is available completely free of charge, with an estimated effort rate of two hours and registration is now open.

The NAU project is co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan(PRR).
