Find out all about the agenda for the 16th annual meeting of the FCCN community, the digital services unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

For three days, from May 6 to 8, hundreds of professionals from the fields of science and higher education will gather to learn about the latest digital services and technological trends.

Over the course of the 15 editions, more than 5600 participants have attended the FCCN Days, which each year take place in a different region of the country. In 2025, the organization has the close support of the University of Coimbra and Coimbra City Council.

What's new in 2025

Artificial Intelligence is one of the main topics on the agenda, with sessions dedicated to sharing projects, experiences and initiatives that use this technology. Also featured is the debate on Web Accessibility, which addresses how education and research institutions can comply with digital accessibility standards and best practices on websites and platforms.

Day 1: Technology for Knowledge

The first day focuses on the tools made available to the FCCN community through FCT's digital services: learning how to archive the Portuguese web , finding out more about Open Science Policies or making the most of Research Data Management are some of the workshops on the agenda. This day also includes a session dedicated to "Democratizing Artificial Intelligence: making AI accessible to all", which will take place at 2.30pm on May 6th.

Day 2. Community sharing

The second day of the FCCN 2025 Conference begins with the event's Plenary Session, when representatives from FCT, the University of Coimbra and Coimbra City Council take to the main stage. The highlight is the presentation by the Keynote Speaker of the event, João Gabriel Silva, full professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, specialized in Computer Engineering, former rector and current president of the Pedro Nunes Institute.

One of the most emblematic moments of the meeting will take place on the morning of the 7th. O Zapping FCCN gives participants a comprehensive overview of what's new in digital services. This is followed by Community Zapping , a space dedicated to sharing innovative projects, where students, researchers, teachers and staff from national Higher Education Institutions showcase the best of what is being done in their institutions.

The afternoon will include workshops on digital services and parallel sessions on Multimedia, Science Communication, Artificial Intelligence and Data Management.

Day 3. At the forefront of technology

On May 8, the last day of the FCCN Days, the highlight will be the session "AI@Deucalion: Alphafold use case", a demonstration of the use of the Portuguese supercomputer, where the added value of this infrastructure is highlighted. The morning also includes panels dedicated to the new OCRE 2024 Framework Agreement, Data Protection and Scientific and Digital Repositories. The event ends with the Closing Session at 12:30pm.

A meeting place for the community

In addition to its technical dimension, the program includes various networking moments, such as the Happy Hour and the Social Dinner, with the aim of bringing the community closer together and promoting sharing among peers.
