From October 23 to 29, 2023, there will be another edition of the International Open Access Week, a global event with activities on a local scale, which aims to disseminate Open Access to Knowledge. This year's theme is: Community over Commercialization / Community over Commercialization.

This initiative began in 2007 with "Open Access Day" and has been growing since 2009, having been extended and transformed into "Open Access Week".

This is an event promoted by SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) and this year's theme is "Designing Equitable Foundations for Open Knowledge". All the information related to the international activity is available at www.openaccessweek.org.

The RCAAP service has joined this initiative as part of its communication activities. Its purpose is to bring together synergies to make this week a significant event at national level, with an impact on the scientific and academic world and, in this way, reinforce the importance of institutional repositories and, consequently, promote Open Access in Portugal.

As usual, it is recommended that all institutions/journals send RCAAP, in different formats, all the activities they intend to carry out in this area. On the week's website, you can find some promotional materials for reuse.

Individual or collective initiatives are important, so RCAAP is counting on your commitment and sending them to the e-mail semanaoa@rcaap.pt, so that they can be publicized at www.acessolivre.pt and on the RCAAP Facebook page.
