The application period for the Arquivo.pt Prize, run by the Foundation for Science and Technology's digital service, FCCN, has ended. There were 27 candidates for the annual prize, which honors research using information preserved on Arquivo.pt.
João Gomes, area director of FCCN and responsible for Arquivo.pt, congratulated the participants, "congratulations in advance to those who accepted the challenge. Thank you to everyone who took part," he said.
"We received 27 entries that use the information preserved on Arquivo.pt, a result that we consider to be very positive and which shows the maturity of this initiative. Every year the papers introduce new ideas on how to use the information preserved on the Web, demonstrating that it is important for improving scientific research and for serving citizens," he added.
The winners will be announced at the Science 2024 Meeting, which will take place from July 3 to 5 at the Alfândega do Porto Congress Center and will have the motto "+Science for One Health and global well-being".
27 entries for the Arquivo.pt Prize 2024
Among the applications, 17 are in the form of mobile applications, six are studies and there are also videos or video mock-ups. The themes of the proposals range from Social, Human and Political Sciences to Technology and Natural Sciences, among other topics.
The 1st place winner will receive a prize of €10,000, the second place will win €3,000 and the third best entry will be awarded €2,000. The jury will also choose the winners of the honorable mentions in the competition. Among the works proposed, 11 are candidates for the honorable mention of the Público newspaper and another 11 for the AMCC - Aveiro Media Competence Center Honorable Mention. Six are also up for the .PT Honorable Mention.
Special mention for "April 25 and Democracy" at the Arquivo.pt 2025 Awards
The Arquivo.pt 2025 Prize, to continue the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, will include a special mention for works on the theme "April 25 and Democracy".
With this new feature, researchers and interested citizens are now being challenged to create innovative works using Arquivo.pt.
