It was in 2023 that Margarida Prozil, Head of Data at Data CoLAB, participated for the first time in the National Meeting on Advanced ComputingThis event brings together researchers, technicians and decision-makers to promote collaboration and development in the field of Advanced Computing, and is organized by FCCN, FCT's digital services, and supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan .
In order to share her experience in this initiative, Margarida answered a few questions about the edition she took part in and revealed her expectations for the 4th Meeting, which will take place from November 5 to 6 at the University of Beira Interior.
"It was an excellent opportunity to familiarize myself with the advances and application of advanced computing in different scientific areas"he began.
How important is this event for Advanced Computing in Portugal?
In my opinion, this event provides a space for sharing knowledge and experiences between different areas and institutions that use these resources. In addition, the event fosters networking, allowing for the creation of a network of contacts and collaboration between professionals from different sectors.
One of the major highlights, in my opinion, was understanding the state of the art of advanced computing in the country, how we are keeping up with international trends and how Data CoLAB can contribute to the development of advanced computing in Portugal.
What do you think were the highlights?
What struck me most about the 2023 edition was the sharing of information on how different areas and institutions are using advanced computing to boost their research and projects.
It was interesting to see how this type of technology is being used in such diverse areas, but also to understand the difficulties that often arise in transferring knowledge and technology to companies and the market.
In my opinion, the great challenge we still have to overcome for advanced computing to have a wider impact in Portugal was highlighted .
What do you expect from the next edition?
I believe it will be an excellent opportunity to continue following the progress of advanced computing in our country.
It's always interesting to see practical cases of the application of this technology, as they give us a better understanding of the real impact that advanced computing can have in various areas. I hope that the event will continue to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration between academia and industry, so that we can move forward more effectively.
