An initiative between Gulbenkian and the Unity service FCCN aims to contribute to the preservation and reuse of websites from the past and the future, with a focus on the world of contemporary Portuguese art.
Arquivo.pt promotes a series of webinars
Preserving the digital memory of contemporary Portuguese art through Arquivo.pt is one of the main objectives of the "Forever" project, an initiative launched jointly by this service of the FCCN Unit, which preserves information published on the web, and by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Arts and Archives Library.
To achieve this goal, the project includes a cycle of webinars that promote knowledge on this theme. The first of these events took place on April 29th, and had as its main theme the preservation of digital memory and the role of Arquivo.pt. The session focused in particular on what is a central theme of the project: the websites related to artists, galleries and other entities of the national panorama.
The next sessions will be held in May (27th) and July (1st), continuing the project's objectives. As such, these two events will focus, respectively, on the good practices necessary for a website to be preservable and the techniques for recording a website in a standardised format, so that it is preserved for the future.
