RCTS CERT is a computer security incident response service the source or target of which is RCTS – Science, Technology and Society Network.
The mission of RCTS CERT is to contribute to the effort of cybersecurity in the context of the RCTS user community, particularly through incident response handling and coordination.
In a more preventive component, RCTS CERT provides an alert service and offers recommendations regarding potential security risks and malicious activities. One of the objectives of this area is to develop a culture of safety on the Internet.
At the beginning of 2011, RCTS CERT became a member of FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams).
The RCTS CERT obtained the Trusted Introducer certification in January 2015, becoming the first national team to be certified.
From its creation until the end of 2014, RCTS CERT was, in fact, called CERT.PT, gradually assuming a national mission to coordinate security incident response. After the creation of the National Cybersecurity Center, this entity took responsibility for the national incident response coordination, assuming the current name of RCTS CERT, reflecting the new scope of activity.
